Cotswold Way – Pipley Wood

Here we are at my favourite walk of all: a circular walk that follows the Cotswold Way, starting in Weston and heading to Pipley Wood, an enchanted forest, home to various species of birds, with over 100 species of trees, shrubs, flowers, mosses and liverworts, a natural wonder, in which you can spot deers drinking from the clear springs. As you reach the race course, keep left, walking past the wheat fields, through the iron gate, and then turn right along the tree line. Very soon you’ll reach the golf course on the right and on your left is the most beautiful forest, the forest of childhood, of dreams and possibilities. Some paths are hidden and quite difficult to follow, as the forest is wild and dense, but no worries, you won’t get lost, keep walking and enjoy the birdsongs! I was sad to discover that for now the forest is temporarily closed, due to the poor state of some trees, but I pray that it will reopen soon so that more people can admire this ancient beauty! The pictures of the forest are from 2021. From here, the road takes you around the golf course, and back to the race course, but this time we walk towards Beckford Tower, down the fields and along Primrose Hill wood until you are back in Weston again. This walk surprises with some beautiful views over Bath and it takes about 3 hours and a half – 4 hours to complete.
